Writer, executive producer, and showrunner Marti Noxon's work spans from the provocative to the iconic. After cutting her teeth writing on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Noxon lent her voice to revered dramas such as Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Mad Men before creating the series UnREAL, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, Dietland, and her latest, the HBO limited series Sharp Objects. On the feature side, Noxon wrote the screenplays for I Am Number Four and Fright Night, as well as her feature directorial debut To the Bone.On this special evening, Noxon shares her writing and creative process, the lessons she's learned as a showrunner, and what she looks for when hiring writers in her room.Moderated by Debra Birnbaum, Executive Editor, TV at VarietyDoors open at 7pm. In Support of The Writers Guild Foundation
Since 1966, the Writers Guild Foundation has been the premier Hollywood resource for emerging writers and entertainment lovers. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our mission is to preserve and promote the history and craft of writing for the screen.
Along with operating the Shavelson-Webb Library and Archives in Los Angeles, the Foundation hosts public events featuring notable TV and film writers as well as community outreach programs connecting writers with underserved communities.
