You can help a veteran tell their story. For fifteen years, the Writers Guild Foundation has supported military veterans through the Veterans Writing Project. During the program, veteran writers learn the fundamentals of screenwriting, receive mentorship from WGA-member mentors, and find community. By the end of the year-long program, each veteran leaves with a polished screenplay or TV pilot and the confidence to pursue an entertainment industry career.Your gift to the Veterans Writing Project will:
- Create community amongst veteran writers through one-on-one mentorship and teambuilding activities like the annual Weekend Retreat
- Promote accurate and authentic representation of veterans in media by providing vets the tools, education, confidence, and mentorship to navigate the industry and tell their stories.
- Protect the next generation of storytellers by using our resources to train human writers, not AI.
- And, of course, create pathways for underrepresented writers by keeping our community programs completely free for participants, thanks to generous supporters like you.
The Writers Guild Foundation is affiliated with the Writers Guild of America West, but we're 100% responsible for securing our own funding. (A.K.A. asking generous, amazing people like you for your support.)
