We are humbled to honor the memory of Earl Barret, an immensely talented writer with a career that spanned decades and impacted millions. He wrote on over 30 shows, including “My Favorite Martian,” “Batman,” “Bewitched,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” “I Spy,” “The Partners,” “Sanford and Son” and “Welcome Back, Kotter.” His biggest hit was “Too Close for Comfort.”
The Writers Guild Foundation's mission is to preserve and promote the craft of screenwriting. For 60 years, the foundation has supported the screenwriting community through its Library and Archive, educational events and community-building outreach programs. Your generosity enables us to continue to offer storytellers the space to write, the programs to expand their craft, and the connections to shape their careers and build their community. Some of Barret's scripts currently sit on the shelves of the Mel-Shavelson Library, inspiring the next generation of screenwriters.
